EVA DINES

Ms. Eva Dines is a NYC based cellist and educator. She currently performs throughout New York City and is the 7th and 8th grade Orchestra Director at Herricks Middle School. 

 

With the help of a full merit scholarship,  Ms. Dines earned her Bachelors Degree in Cello Performance from University of Miami’s Frost School of Music with a minor in Public Relations. In 2018, she completed her Masters of Arts in Music Education and K-12 Initial Certification at Columbia University, Teachers College. Ms. Dines has attended courses by Melissa Kraut on the Pre-Twinkle and Book 1 Suzuki Method and is an active member of the Suzuki Association of Americas, ASTA, NYSSMA and NMEA.

 

Ms. Dines has studied extensively with Martha Gerschefski, Ross Harabaugh and Guang Wang of the Vega Quartet. She has spent summers studying under Melissa Kraut and performing chamber music at the rigorous Meadowmount School of Music. Additionally, Ms.Dines has attended the NYU Summer Music Intensive where she studied with Marion Feldman and Brevard Summer Music Festival where she studied with Susannah Chapman of the New York Philharmonic. Ms. Dines has preformed in master classes for Brandt Fredriksen, Wesley Baldwin, Andrew Mark, Mihai Tetel and The Ying Wang Beijing Chamber Ensemble.

 

Ms. Dines performed with the Frost Symphony Orchestra, Henry Mancini Institute Orchestra and the South Florida Symphony. She has appeared in concert with artists; Sarah Chang, Dawn Upshaw, Gloria Estafan, Mark O’ Connor, Joshua Bell, Ben Folds, Steep Canyon Rangers, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Berry Manilow, Johannes Moser and Cyrille Aimee. Eva has performed under conductors Leon Fleisher, James Judd, Keith Lockhart, JoAnn Falletta, Matthias Bamert, Ken Lam and Maria Schneider.


Ms. Dines previously taught in the Sewanhaka Central High School District and the Port Washington School District.  Ms. Dines previously taught at the Bronx Global Learning Institute for Girls, where she instructed students grades k-8 on group violin lessons ranging from 20-60 students. There, her students performed for Sonia Sotomayor at the Bronx Women’s Bar Association, the National Anthem at Yankee Stadium, and appeared in the Oscar nominated documentary Joe’s Violin. Ms. Dines has also been cello faculty for the International Chamber Orchestra of America, Frost School of Music Outreach Program, Coral Gables Community Arts Program and Atlanta Suzuki Talent Development Program.
